Here you'll be learning to read standard musical notation and map it to your 3 string guitar tuned GDG. If you're playing a 4 string all the same principles apply you just learn the notes on the B string too.
You don't t have to be able to look at a piece of music and hear the melody straight away, you don't even have to play it straight away. If however you can learn enough so that you can spend a few minutes mapping the dots on the page to the frets on your guitar, the same way that you do with TAB, then a whole world of possibilities will open to you.
